Artist Biography
Lyndsey Galasso graduated from Beaver River Central School in 2009. Upon graduation, she was accepted into the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program at The College at Brockport, SUNY. This program allowed her to gain experience in the field of Art while concentrating in Painting and minoring in Graphic Design and Art History. Upon receiving her BFA, she was accepted into the Art Education Graduate Program at Nazareth College. This program allowed her to learn about the field of education and gain experience in the art classroom. Currently, Lyndsey holds a Masters Degree in Art Education and her Initial Certification in the Visual Arts.
Since 2010, Lyndsey has used her summers to gain hands on experience with children to prepare herself for a career in teaching. The School Age Center on Fort Drum, NY offers childcare services to military families and their children in grades 1-5. Each day she is responsible for leading activities for fifteen children at a time in various rooms around the center and on field trips. This job has enabled her to gain valuable teaching experience which will surely aid her in achieving her life goal.
Lyndsey’s artwork reflects her goal of becoming an art teacher. She focuses on the concept of bullying in her paintings; in hopes that the viewer, bullied or not, will become more aware of this rising epidemic in our society. Not only does she want to teach children and teens about her passion of the arts but she also hopes to be a small part of raising the public’s awareness in regards to the rising issue of bullying among youth today.
